With the start of the summer heat, it has been incredible to keep my turban on for long periods of time. I am finding as time rolls on with battling cancer that I am becoming a little less afraid of showing the head. We recently had a chance to go to GA for the weekend of our grandson's (in middle) birthday and boy was it hot! Coupled with the "hot flashes" that are a new addition to this body, I have found myself to be whipping off the lid to catch a breeze.
My twin sister has knicknamed me her "bald eagle" and I laugh because she seems to love the name immensely. When she visited my house and had to sleep on the couch, she would wait for my bald head to peer over the kitchen counter that separates the living quarters to the apartment. Since then the name "bald eagle" has stuck.
When Nick and I are in the car, I am forever taking the cap off to cool the head off and I am afraid, the wig is not gonna see much light if the humidity keeps rising. They say bald is beautiful - right?
The nurses say that my hair should start growing back with this chemo but I am not seeing any real evidence of it. In fact, it has about taken all my eyelashes and what little eyebrows I had. The many people I have met along this journey say, it's gonna come in curly. I am hoping for it to look like my granddaughter (on left) who totes a full head of beautiful curls.
