Beat It

My sleep patterns have been crazy. I don't think I have slept through the night since last December. It would be a nice thought though. I often find myself thinking way too much when the eyes fly open at usually 2 a.m. and then again at 4 a.m.  It is not so bad when I know I can go back to sleep (or attempt to) but this week I had the opportunity to work a half day and then another full day for the temp agency.  It was for data entry and didn't require lifting so I thought, well, it's money and we need that, it's keeping my mind occupied before I head back into surgery Wednesday morning, I NEED that and it is keeping my skills up, I need that.  So sleeping is important.

Often times I find myself thinking of creative ways to lull myself back to sleep. This morning it was 12 a.m., 1 a.m. 4 a.m. YIKES.  I was pretty much over it all.  It catches up with me eventually.  Usually I get my ipod and plug the earphones in and put on "my choices" and listen.  I am a piano nut. I will purposefully tone out the remainder of a song just to hear the piano in it.  This morning in the wee hours, I decided it was gonna be the drum portion of the songs I would hoan in on.  That was cool cause I love drums too.  Always wanted to learn drums as well as piano, just have never had an ounce of musical talent in me.  Being the youngest of 10 children, by the time we came along there was no money for lessons for the younger kids.  Now that I think of it, there was only one person in the 10 of us that played an instrument and I am not so sure mom and dad paid for lessons for that one.

If you can believe it, I played in a folk group at church when I was growing up, but was too shy to sing out loud so I mouthed the words. I am not so sure I could remember what cord was what if someone placed a guitar in my hands today.  Who knows, maybe tomorrow morning I will be hoaning out the guitar in the songs on the ipod when the eyes are wide open and the mind is thinkin once again.

Could I end up a musician by the time I beat this cancer? :-)
