This year for Thanksgiving we did the usual visit to Roswell to my sisters for Thanksgiving. My niece and her husband came from North Carolina Thanksgiving Day. My sister and I made plans to start a new tradition this year.
We scouted the sale flyers and made a plan and got up at 6 a.m. on "Black Friday" and went shopping. My niece, who claims to hate shopping was not so "into" the idea, but we told her to not be a party pooper and she was going or staying home with the men folk and children! She decided to go after thinking that one through.
At 6 on the dot we were out the door. We had our coupons and we laughed and made several stops enroute to the North Point Mall. The fun thing was seeing how many times we could lose each other and using our cell phones to find each other, sometimes standing several feet away in the store.
We dropped our goods off at home, ate some left over ham sandwiches, changed shoes and went for the second round. We had such a good time and my niece, who hates shopping, had to be dragged from a few stores as she is a few years younger than Barb and I and our 50+ feet had pretty much given out. For a lady who didn't want to shop, we turned her into a mad spender and she accomplished her Christmas shopping. When it was all said and done, by 9 p.m. we had most all of it wrapped.
Now next year, we may continue the tradition, but the vote is still out on this one.
